Mondello, the sandy beach of Palermo, was originally a fishing village. Today it is a beach resort with one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily.
The beach of Mondello is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily and is located between Monte Pellegrino and Monte Gallo, a few kilometers from Palermo. The long sandy beach offers crystal clear waters as well as many seasonal bars and restaurants.
The most eye-catching structure, the Art Nouveau Pavilion, is located at the end of the pier and is probably the most famous attraction in Mondello. In the off-season you can enjoy your peace and quiet on the sandy beach of Mondello, while in the summer months it is frequented by many tourists and locals.
For nature enthusiasts, the nature reserve of Capo Gallo offers many hiking trails and great panoramas.
By car, you can reach Mondello either via the A19/E90 freeway and the SS113 road. Directly from the center of Palermo you can take the SS113 highway or the slightly shorter route via Montepellegrino, Viale Diana and Viale Margherita di Savoia lermos.
From Palermo there are also different routes by bus, such as lines 806, 677, 544, 603, 936, 645 and 615. For more information about local transport in Palermo and the different lines of streetcar and bus, click here: https://www.amat.pa.it/.
