The town of Trecastagni is located on the south-eastern slope of the volcano Etna at 586 m above sea level and offers a beautiful panorama as far as Syracuse and Calabria.

After the festivals of Sant Agata in Catania and Santa Rosalia in Palermo, the feast of Sant'Alfio is one of the most important religious festivals in Sicily. It is held every year on 9 and 10 May. Another highlight is the "Sfilata dei Carretti Siciliani", the parade of the Sicilian carts, which takes place at the same time.
